The Childrens Kayaking Charitable Trust
In an association with children’s kayak charitable trust.
About the Chairty:
The trust started back in 2001 when a great deal of work went into a very simple idea. They looked into the opportunities open for children within wychavon area and it was clear that the river Avon wasn’t being used to its full potential for water based activities. They started the work to put this into place.
They managed to obtain the support from wychavon leisure Centre within Evesham. They then set about to raise the funds to buy a kayaking fleet. The initial 8 kayaks and all the safety equipment was sourced of the assistance of Awards of all, Sports-match and John martins charity, Since those very early days the charity has expanded dramatically now owning 12 boats, being able to learn first aid skills on pool side and being able to experience Kayaking which is combined with Escape Drills, Throw Line and Rescue Techniques.
The programme will provide the opportunity to over 500 children aged 8 - 18 years and the sessions are held between 4.40pm to 6.30pm on Saturdays throughout 2016.Each child will go away from a session with a first aid book donated by roundtable, first aid certificate and either a bag of fruit or bottle of water depending on time of year which his donated by McDonalds
